چکیده

In this paper, a review on microplasma discharges is conducted. The different types and configurations used in microplasmas such as the Cathode Boundary Layer (CBL), Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD), Capillary Plasma Electrode Discharge (CPED), Inverted Square Pyramid (ISP), Square Cross Sectional Cavities (SCSC), Radio Frequency Inductively Coupled Discharge (RFIC), Radio Frequency Capacitive Coupled Discharge (RFCC), Micro-Hollow Cathode Discharge (MHCD), and microstrip technology (MS) discharges at different operating conditions are discussed. Numerical and experimental methods used for the analysis of the physics involved in these microplasmas, as well as the different construction methods used, are also described.

Microplasmas for nanomaterials synthesis

Microplasmas have attracted a tremendous amount of interest from the plasma community because of their small physical size, stable operation at atmospheric pressure, non-thermal characteristics, high electron densities and non-Maxwellian electron energy distributions. These properties make microplasmas suitable for a wide range of materials applications, including the synthesis of nanomaterials...

Lyapunov exponent of ion motion in microplasmas.

Dynamical chaos is studied in the Hamiltonian motion of ions confined in a Penning trap and forming so-called microplasmas. The dynamical chaos of the ion motion is characterized by the maximum Lyapunov exponent. Results are reported on the dependence of this exponent on the energy of the system, on the number of ions, as well as on the geometry of the trap. Different dynamical regimes are char...

Profiling and modeling of dc nitrogen microplasmas

This article explores electric current and field distributions in dc microplasmas, which have distinctive characteristics that are not evident at larger dimensions. These microplasmas, which are powered by coplanar thin-film metal electrodes with 400-mm minimum separations on a glass substrate, are potentially useful for microsystems in both sensing and microfabrication contexts. Experiments in...

Observation of broadband time-dependent Rabi shifting in microplasmas.

Coherent broadband radiation in the form of Rabi sidebands is observed when a ps probe laser propagates through a weakly ionized, electronically excited microplasma generated in the focus of an intense pump beam. The sidebands arise from the interaction of the probe beam with pairs of excited states of a constituent neutral atom via the probe-induced Rabi oscillation. Sideband shifting of >90 m...
